Funding Approved – County Durham Community Foundation

Over the winter break and start of the new year we have been planning and drawing up some plans on how we can give back to the community while also growing the exposure of the club. We drew ups some plans and applied for some grants one of these grants we have worked on is the County Durham Community Foundation, this grant has allowed us to expand our kit for the academy and lets us delve into impoverished areas in the community to put on some free evening sessions during the week (Initially 20 at this moment in time). This will allow the community to experience American football and the great team sport that it is as well as letting people from all backgrounds join in with no worries about costs. We are aiming to target areas that have issues of anti social behaviour and allow them to take part and see what a difference it can make to the community.

This amazing news gives the Academy the opportunity to continue the development of the club. We are now able to provide more kit for the young players and to further our work in the community which is really moving right now. The club has needed this for a very long time but this allows us to take that next step. The Cadet Flag is doing really well and the Youth team is starting to gain traction, getting the backing that I’m getting from the committee and Chairman by obtaining things like this allows me to build and build this Academy. Mainly, this is amazing for the progression of the club, the current group of players and coaches but many many more potential additions.

As to how the funds have been broken down to being spent some of the money is being used to expand out equipment offering allowing us to have more participants and to make up school bags that allow us to quickly to go into schools to deliver sessions of American football. We are spending these funds on new footballs across our academy, more flag belts, protective equipment and much much more. This grant will also allow us to deliver free sessions in the community and schools to build the exposure of American football and the great team sport that is. We are very excited and proud of being able to be approved of the grant and we can’t wait to show you the results of these sessions throughout the year.

Thank you County Durham Community Foundation for approving the grant and believing is us and thank you to you the players, parents, partners and fans of the club for helping us to get to this stage.
