Special Teams MVP – Kyle “Chubbs” Lutman
Northumberland came into the game with the plan to steal possession from us with onside kicks. This was the point where Kyle had other ideas catching the first onside kick and gaining some positive yards and recovering a fumble on another making Northumberland change their plans and kick it deep. He and others moved all around the special teams making blocks and plays everywhere.
Another honourable shout out to Chris Kilgour who’s punting even under duress was of great quality even when, as Coach Howitt is quoted as saying “Yes, he did some great punts. His best one was when the whole punt team was on the field and he was on the sideline sharing a banana anecdote with other players” Haha….

Defensive MVP – Robert Dowson
As DC I was proud to see everyone again giving their all, against a D1 drilled team, our players taking hard hits and more so than ever dealing them out. We go with what we’ve got on game days today we missed no opportunities to make positive statements in the game, defensive players stepped up the intensity of their effort and belief in one another throughout the game.
The second half reiterated the resolve of the D however injuries in different positions ment people playing out of position which is where I believe they excelled. Rob Carey who I’ve been telling was a LB since I became coordinator, all players did as I asked and I could not be prouder of you all. Sheppy had another solid performance at various LB positions. But nobody on the Defence made Daddy as proud on the day as Dowse did everything I asked of him all over then field and influenced where Newcastle tried to place the football, which was most notably away from him lol honourable mention our 3-man line. Unfortunately, due to personnel, not a lot of rotational but stood up the D1 offensive line. What can I say about out DBs firstly everyone of them are appreciated as yesterday I asked them to play 5 that was always the plan to stop Newcastle in specific situation sacrificing two Lbs ment exposing DBs to a none too shabby RB quick n a load to bring down which brings me to give an honourable mention to the 3 amigos all interchangeable all did everything, Andy North, Jordan Mannion and Liam Wood.

Offensive MVP – Josh Adcock
Including another excellent passing touch down, Josh threw the ball with confidence against a well drilled defence, hitting some tight windows and working his reads efficiently. He again showed great leadership of the offence and resilience in the face of pressure throughout the second half.
Offensive Coordinator, John Pacey
Team MVP – Mikey “Snowball” Healey
Snowball put in his best game for the Steam since returning from his hiatus, but what can I say…
He stood out in all three phases, O, D and Specials, made plays, broke up plays, ran well with the ball, got an interception and made a lovely block on specials.
His tenacity and commitment to the cause and to do what’s right for the team was amazing and showed a great example to players who were watching.
Very proud of Snowball since his return, he’s slotted in nicely to become a great Steam player.
