Wow-what a day!!
Steam played our first EVER league game and what a performance we put in. As much as the result won’t reflect it… We balled out.
Chris Armstrong grabbed an early TD but Blackhawks answered back quickly. An extremely tight affair after that but Blackhawks saw the win through.
On offence, a massive improvement from the preseason and grabbing that illustrious TD was just amazing… A great stat is that we only turned the ball over once (cough*Mark*cough)!
On defence, they played lights out. Stood stout, stopping the Blackhawks on a lot of occasions, an interception from Liam Wood and a great strip of the ball from Rob Dowson which he nearly took home until the bear got on his back!
A fantastic game overall from the guys and we showed how great we can be.
Game MVPs:
Offence: Chris Armstrong, a great ground game and fully deserved his TD.
Defence: Rob Dowson… Just because he does Rob Dowson things.
Specials: John Pacey, great punting game, absolute weapon and his accuracy is becoming second to none.
Team: Craig Blackett. A fantastic game overall, sacks, pressures, lots of great tackles, and a 1 point conversion block on special teams and this was in his first-ever game in the sport, nevermind for the club!!
Proud of all the players, coaching staff and everyone involved…
On with the next one…
