Big News for the Darlington Steam Academy!
We are absolutely thrilled to share some fantastic news with our community. The Darlington Steam Academy has been awarded a partial grant from Point North as part of their community funds programme, and it’s going to make a massive difference on the field.
New Gear, New Goals
This funding is being used specifically to purchase 10 brand-new helmets for our Academy players.
In a sport like American Football, having the right kit isn’t just about looking the part—it’s about safety and accessibility. By adding these helmets to our stores, we are now in a position to recruit and introduce a whole new wave of players to the sport in Darlington and the surrounding areas.
Keeping the Game Accessible
Our mission has always been to make American Football a sport for everyone, regardless of their background. This grant helps us do exactly that by:
- Lowering Barriers: Providing essential equipment so new players don’t have to buy their own straight away.
- Affordable Memberships: Keeping our running costs down allows us to keep membership fees low.
- Community Support: Ensuring that the most disadvantaged in our area can enjoy the sport we all love without worrying about the price tag.

We want to say a huge thank you to Point North for believing in our vision and helping us grow the game in the North East. With this new equipment, we are ready to welcome the next generation of athletes to the Steam family.
